John Rawls- Justice as Fairness Introduction Mankind has always had a problem in deciding what should be the exact meaning of justice and always nearly ended up explaining it in the context of the times. Loosely it has meant what is good and it has been stretched accordingly. KONTRAKTUALISM OCH KONSTRUKTIVISM Om

These two principles of justice are expressions of what Rawls calls “justice as fairness”. The first principle puts emphasis on equal access to the basic human needs, rights, and liberties. The theory of justice as fairness by John Rawls is great in idea, but difficult in application. It is a given that justice exists when everyone is equal and shares the same rights. It is also just if certain inequalities are allowed to favor those who are less fortunate. Few philosophers have made as much of a splash with a single book as John Rawls did with the 1971 publication of A Theory of Justice. Thirty years later, Justice as Fairness rearticulates the main themes of his earlier work and defends it against the swarm of criticisms it has attracted.
